Exploring Islands of Adventure

Islands of AdventureOne of the world's most technologically advanced theme parks, Islands of Adventure is home to some of the most thrilling roller coaster and water rides in Florida. Spread over an area almost as vast as Universal Studios Florida, the park consists of five themed zones - Seuss Landing, The Lost Continent, Jurassic Park, Toon Lagoon and Marvel Super Hero Island - all positioned around a central lagoon. Each Island has a creative and imaginative layout, providing an introduction to famous comic book, cartoon and movie characters. You will need to set aside an entire day to cover all the attractions at Islands of Adventure.

Marvel Super Hero Island- Marvel Super Hero Island's inspiration comes from the Marvel Comics' stable of characters, super heros and villains. The Incredible Hulk Coaster - one of the best coasters in Florida - launches riders from zero to 40 mph in two seconds flat! The Incredible Hulk Coaster has been voted one of the top 10 steel coasters in the country. It has a total of seven inversions and two drops during the 2-minute 15-second ride.

Highly advanced 3-D film technology, spectacular special effects, and motion simulated action makes the Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man one of the most sought-after rides at the park. A scary 400-ft simulated free fall is the highlight of this exciting, edge-of-your-seat ride. Doctor Doom's Fearfall catapults its riders high into the air before plunging them down a 15-ft fall.

Toon Lagoon - Favorite cartoon characters come to life against this island's colorful backdrop. The Comic Strip Lane, at the entrance, is lined with life-size images of toons such as Betty Boop, Olive Oyl, and Beetle Bailey. Attractions here are water related so have the poncho's ready. Based on the Ricky and Bullwinkle caroons, Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls is a drenching and enjoyable flume ride. Popeye & Bluto's Bilge-Rat Barges is a turning, twisting whitewater raft ride that will get you wet. Children will love exploring Me Ship, The Olive, a play area with bells, organs, ladders, tunnels and whistles.

Jurassic Park - Step into a lush, tropical jungle like setting as you enter this Island, where all the attractions are based on the Jurassic Park films. The Jurassic Park River Adventure starts out as a peaceful cruise along a river but soon it throws you into a world of stormy skies and a menacing T-Rex and the only escape route is a 85-ft drop into a lagoon. You will get soaked. Jurassic Park Discovery Center is an interactive exhibit that is fun and educational with realistic replicas of dinosaurs. The remaining attractions at this island are Pteranodon Flyers, a slow sky ride over Jurassic Park, Camp Jurassic, a playgournd with caves and buried fossils for kids and the.

The Lost Continent - Enter a magical world inspired by mythical and supernatural creatures. An ageless land of ancient myths and epic legends. Attractions here include a favorite with coaster addicts, Dueling Dragons which is two coasters, Fire and Ice - racing toward each other in a battle to see who will arrive back first. Riders come within inches of each other. A less thrilling ride, designed primarily for young children is the Flying Unicorn - a pleasant and non-frightening introduction to roller coasters. An exciting stage show, The Eighth Voyage of Sinbad is filled with stunts, giant flames and explosions. The best show however, is Poseidon's Fury, which features a battle between the King of the Seas and the King of the Gods.

Seuss Landing - Based on the popular Seuss children's books, this Island appeals mainly to the young and fans of the books. The Cat in the Hat is a spinning and whirling couch ride that takes you on a trip with the michievous cat and characters such as Thing 1 and Thing 2. Younger kids enjoy riding One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish as they spin around on a remote controlled fish that moves up and down, and try to avoid being squirted by water jets. Caro-Seuss-El is a merry-go-round with lovable Dr. Seuss characters.
